Project Overview
Through a community engagement process in Seattle’s New Holly neighborhood, WCSD was able to find the perfect home for Impact | Salish Sea Elementary in the Othello Square mixed-use development. As part of the Impact Public Schools network, the school will prepare a diverse student population to succeed in college and impact communities as the next generation of equity-driven, innovative leaders. At full capacity, they will serve 597 TK-5 grade students. The facility includes lots of natural light, a huge lobby area that doubles as a multipurpose room, and a set of learning stairs that lead to an upper commons/library and specialist breakout rooms. The campus includes a partially covered playground as well as access to a community playground a block away.
Impact | Salish Sea Elementary opened for in-person learning in August 2021, beginning with grades TK-2. As part of the Othello Square community, students and families will have access to high-quality healthcare options via the neighboring new Odessa Brown Health Care Clinic. The school is also working with the Seattle Sounders’ RAVE Foundation to install two all-weather soccer fields in the adjacent community park.
