Project Overview

PCSD developed a former public storage facility in South Los Angeles into a multi-school campus for Alliance  College-Ready Public Schools. Known as the Frank E. Baxter Educational Complex, the facility was completed in 2006 and includes two school buildings: the north building houses Alliance Richard Merkin Middle School, while the south building houses Alliance Gertz-Ressler High School.

The two schools share an open courtyard, gymnasium, library, multi-purpose classroom, and dedicated specialty classrooms for science instruction. The middle school building has 15 classrooms with space for up to 375 students, and the high school building has 21 classrooms with space for up to 500 students. Through a technical aid grant from Global Green USA, many of the materials used in the buildings are resource-efficient and ecologically friendly.
