Project Overview
PCSD partnered with Lighthouse Community Public Schools to expand their Lodestar campus in the Sobrante Park neighborhood of Oakland, CA. Following the initial development of the site as a K-8 campus, Phase II of the project added a high school facility with 300 student seats. This brought the total capacity of the campus to 850 student seats, encompassing grades TK-12.
Phase II of the Lodestar project was completed in 2020. During this phase, a new two-story modular building was constructed on the site, containing 10 classrooms, four studio spaces, a multipurpose space for self-directed learning, and a teacher workroom, as well as administrative offices and a reception area. This phase also included a major outdoor renovation, including building a playground and basketball court, as well as installing a large solar array to help reduce energy expenses. To launch the new building in the community, PCSD and Lodestar worked with the Bay Area Mural Program to create two community-inspired murals on the campus grounds.
