Project Overview

PCSD worked with Environmental Charter Schools to convert an existing classroom building, administrative office building, and church into a charter middle school for 360 students in grades 6-8 in Gardena, CA. Environmental Charter Middle School moved into the new facility in 2013.

The classroom and administrative buildings were converted into 12 classrooms, a multi-purpose/lunch area, a teachers’ lounge, and administrative offices. In a later phase, a greenhouse will be added to the roof deck of the classroom building, and the church sanctuary will be converted into a multi-purpose area with second-floor administrative office space.
