This project is the conversion of an existing two-story classroom building, a one-story administrative office building, and a church into a charter middle school for 360 students in grades 6 through 8.
The classroom and administrative buildings were converted into 12 classrooms, a multi-purpose/lunch area, a teachers’ lounge, and administrative offices. In a later phase, a 575 square foot greenhouse will be added to the roof deck in the classroom building, and the church sanctuary will be converted into a multi-purpose area with a new second level with 4,000 square feet of new administrative office space for the school. An on-site surface parking lot provides 24 parking spaces.
Environmental Charter Middle School, previously located in Inglewood, with approximately 230 students in grades 6-7, moved into the new facility in 2013.
